Come and visit Tanjung Puting National Park which was originally declared as a National Park in 1982, using Klotok wooden boat transportation. Relax and enjoy nature and wildlife tourism, a place to preserve the ecosystems and habits of endangered orangutans. Explore the Sekonyer river and traverse several types of forests, from mangrove forests, lowland tropical forests, dryland forests, freshwater mangrove swamp forests, peat swamp forests, coastal forests and secondary forests. Enjoy birdsong, discover various types of primates, langurs (Lutung or Lutung Hanuman, the most widespread langurs on the Indian subcontinent, are a group of Old World monkeys, all of which are the genus Semnopithecus), long tailed monkeys, red monkeys, red proboscis monkeys and orangutans wild in their immediate habitat. Walk through 3 orangutan eating places: Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui and Camp Leakey. Get a new experience about the heavy rain that immediately cools the water, the clarity of the bright red sunset and the comfortable way to sleep with the purity of the water in the open night sky, in the middle of a forest covered with mosquito nets.

Itinerary

Day
1

Pangkalanbun – Kumai – Camp Leakey

Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be picked up by our guide and transferred to Kumai. Take our boat on the river to Camp Leakey. This is a research center where old orangutans are released into the rainforest. After that, you can do soft trekking in the rain forest to see other wildlife. Return to the boat for lunch and then see the orangutans being fed around 2pm. Our boat @lookorangutan is a traditional wooden boat from the river measuring around 17m x 3.8 m with a roof that forms the upper deck where you can see the rain forest while gliding. Simple mattresses, pillows, food, bottled mineral water, mosquito nets, simple toilets and showers are available on board. Stay overnight on the boat.

Day
2

Pondok Tanggui – Pesalat – Tanjung Harapan – Pangkalanbun

After breakfast, take the boat along the river to Pondok Tangguy which is a rehabilitation center for ex-captive orangutans and eat around 9am. Continue to Pesalat where you will have the opportunity to travel in the forest to observe wildlife and see reforestation projects. You can also plant baby trees there. In the afternoon, visit the Tanjung Harapan rehabilitation center to watch the meal again around 3 pm. After that, you can visit the village near the national park. Take the boat ride along the river to the palm area of Nipah where you can see beautiful fireflies when the weather is sunny. Return to Kumai and transfer to Pangkalanbun for your next destination. Tour ends.
